Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about employment law and workplace rights.

Most claims must be brought within 3 months less one day from the date of the act complained of (e.g., dismissal or discrimination). Time limits are strictly enforced, so early advice is crucial.
A settlement agreement waives your right to bring tribunal claims in exchange for a payment. By law, you must receive independent legal advice on the agreement for it to be valid. We offer fixed-fee reviews.
Unfair dismissal occurs when an employer dismisses an employee without a fair reason (capability, conduct, redundancy, illegality, or some other substantial reason) or fails to follow a fair procedure. Employees generally need 2 years' continuous service to claim.
You have the right to be consulted, receive notice, be considered for suitable alternative roles, and receive a redundancy payment if eligible. Employers must follow a fair selection process.
There are no court fees to issue a claim. However, legal fees vary. We offer a free initial assessment and can discuss funding options including conditional fee agreements (no win, no fee) in suitable cases.
